India welcomed the key outcomes of the UNFCCC CoP30 at the Closing Plenary in Belém, Brazil, expressing strong support for the inclusive leadership of the CoP30 Presidency and the decisions adopted during the Conference.
India appreciated the Presidency’s efforts in foregrounding climate finance and reiterated the long-standing obligation of developed countries to fulfil commitments made under the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement. Emphasizing equity and climate justice, India highlighted the importance of ensuring that the burden of climate change mitigation is not placed on those with the least responsibility for causing the problem.
The country welcomed progress under the Global Goal on Adaptation, noting its relevance for developing countries, and expressed satisfaction with the establishment of the Just Transition Mechanism as a key milestone towards inclusive and equitable climate action.
India also underlined concerns regarding unilateral trade-restrictive climate measures, reiterating that such measures undermine the principles of equity and Common But Differentiated Responsibilities and Respective Capabilities (CBDR-RC).
Reaffirming its commitment to science-based, inclusive, and equitable climate action, India called for continued global cooperation to ensure a fair and just transition for all.
